The sculptor François Pompon (1855-1933) often carried his small portable workbench while strolling through Paris’s Jardin des Plantes, where he observed animals and shaped quick sketches. In his studio, he crafted simplified sculptures of bears, panthers, dogs, chickens, and rabbits, capturing the true essence of each creature. Artist Gérard Lo Monaco has reinterpreted these works, and in collaboration with the RMN and Musée d’Orsay, Vilac honours Pompon’s legacy with a beautiful collection of wooden toys inspired by his timeless art.
