Travel The World With Assouline

Travel The World With Assouline

Summer is inherently associated with packing a suitcase and vacationing in beautiful places to recharge after months of hard work. A decade ago, this might have involved booking a travel agent to help plan a trip, but today most of us rely on searching hotels, restaurants and excursions online while having 13 AirBnB, Trip Advisor and Google Flights tabs open , which isn’t the most relaxing pre-holiday process. A much more enjoyable solution is perusing Assouline’s Travel Series. Each of these absolutely stunning coffee table books focuses on one city or region and allows you to fully immerse yourself in a destination through a curated selection of photographs and vivid descriptions. We’ve compiled a list of Assouline books that are guaranteed to give you wanderlust stomach butterflies, from Mykonos to Tulum, the Hamptons, and more.

Mykonos Muse

Mykonos Muse

Explore the Queen of the Cyclades, AKA Mykonos, through Assouline's Mykonos Muse, a breathtaking coffee table book composed of texts and photographs by Greek photographer Lizy Manola. The vivid descriptions and two-page-spread photographs of azure water, seafood, idyllic beaches, gay-friendly nightlife and mezze dining culture will assuredly inspire your next vacation. The royal blue cover and Greek Evil Eye pattern will be sure to make this book your coffee table's new centerpiece. It is thought that wearing an Evil Eye will ward off bad luck and misfortune - Better hop on a plane to Mykonos to pick up a necklace at the market if you don't want to lug this six-pound, three hundred-page book around to protect your energy.

Jaipur Splendor
Jaipur Splendor

Travel to Jaipur, otherwise known as the Pink City or the Paris of India. Written by Mozez Singh, the filmmaker paints a vibrant picture of the Indian city's "melting pot" cultural identity: Its fascinating architecture and pink color palette, famous Rajasthani cuisine, hectically festive bazaars, colourful gardens, grand gates, famous Bollywood personalities and singers such as Irrfan Khan and Himani Bairwa. The city's color palette has always attracted people from all over the world such as Oprah and the Dalai Lama. Follow in their footsteps and head to Jaipur for a glass of Soda Shikanji and some Dal-Baati-Churma.

Marrakech Flair
Marrakech Flair

Fall in love with the bustling city of Marrakech through Marrakech Flair, by Marisa Berenson. Start your day by strolling through the souk, full of spices each one more flavourful than the next, and vibrant textiles. Get lost in the Anima André Heller Garden before relaxing with a refreshing cup of mint tea or a comforting bowl of seven-vegetable couscous. This gorgeous, warm orange coffee table book would make a wonderful bridal shower gift to give a future bride or groom honeymoon destination ideas!

St.Moritz Chic
St. Moritz Chic

St.Moritz Chic chronicles everyday life in the chicest alpine resort town of Engadine, Switzerland. Travel back in time to experience the 1948 Winter Olympics, the very first Snow Polo World Cup, and follow along on Alfred Hitchcock, Audrey Hepburn and Charlie Chaplin's stays at the opulent Badrutt Palace Hotel. St. Moritz boasts a small-town feel with luxurious amenities that have become more than half the population's home away from home. Discover the ultimate winter wonderland destination if you prefer traveling during the colder months of the year.

Greek Islands
Greek Islands

Island-hop accross the Aegean Sea, from Hydra to Patmos, Astypalaia and Naxos, by flipping through Assouline's Greek Islands by Chrysanthos Panas. Let yourself be seduced by the most beautiful whitewashed villages Greece has to offer, and all the fresh seafood, scenic viewpoints, and ancient ruins in between. While choosing what islands tick all the boxes on your holiday list, make a game out of recognizing where scenes from The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and Boy on a Dolphin.

Paris Chic
Paris Chic

Get a glimpse of the real Parisian everyday life with Assouline's Paris Chic: Discover what a typical Parisian apartment looks like, marvel at the vivid roses from a Sunday market, walk along the Seine to admire the bouquinistes who seem to come from another era, bite into a crispy raspberry macaron and let yourself be charmed by chaotically elegant bistros. Alexandra Senes and photographer Oliver Pilcher have compiled a fascinating collection glimpses into the city of love that serve as a beautiful homage to the city of effortless chic.

Tulum Gypset
Tulum Gypset

Embark on a journey to Tulum, originally named Zamá, which means “Place of the dawning sun". The ancient Mayan city is home to stunning cliffside views, cenotes, ruins, exotic wildlife, sandy beaches and wild, lush jungles. Tulum is the perfect holiday combination of beach and city life: Spend the day tanning and then venture out to the Sian Kaʼan Biosphere Reserve before enjoying some of the best seafood you've ever tasted and experiencing the city's vibrant nightlife (there is a good reason it's one of Alexis Rose's go-to vacation destinations). Additionally, Tulum is a dream destination for those who want to travel to an eco-friendly touristic destination and perhaps experience a wellness or yoga retreat.

Miami Beach
Miami Beach

Miami Beach by Horacio Silva invites its readers to embark on a voyage to Florida's most popular destination. Dive into the azure waters of the Atlantic Ocean, peak into emblematic establishments such as the Ritz-Carlton Miami Beach or the Hotel Webster, and discover local culinary wonders such as Joe’s Stone Crab, a lunch counter that exists since 1913. Let yourself be dazzled by the Floridian kitsch and the city's bright color palette that seems straight out of a Wes Anderson movie. The book's flashy yellow exterior will add a splash of Floridian sunshine to your coffee table on cold winter evenings as you daydream about your next trip to the "Magic City".

Milan Chic
Milan Chic

Milan Chic reads like a love letter to Milan - A city that conjures images of autumn/winter and spring/summer fashion weeks, creamy gelato, its Gothic-style cathedral, the famous La Scala Opera, and sitting at a café sipping on a Spritz or a caffè latte. Discover the Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Futurism influences on the city's architecture through the words of Massimo Nava and the photographs of Oberto Gili while discovering hidden artistic, culinary and cultural gems. Andiamo!

Hamptons Private
Hamptons Private

Head to the Hamptons for the last chapter of the summer, as recommended by Serena Van Der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf and many non-fictional personalities of the New York high society thirsty for an escape from Manhattan's stuffy summer weather. Flip through photographs spreading over two pages and feel the hot sand under your toes as you walk along pristine beaches, head to a formal garden party, enjoy a strawberry ice cream on the boardwalk and shop in the most charming East Ends towns, à la Great Gatsby 2022.

Travel all the time, from anywhere, by diving into the carefully curated universe contained in each Assouline book.
